Why teams switch from Adobe to Appice

Adobe is a generalist enterprise customer experience suite. Appice is the real-time decisioning and execution layer for regulated industries — and that's a different category.

  • Single purpose-built decisioning layer — Adobe Experience Cloud is multiple bolted-together products. Appice is one platform, one decisioning model, one execution layer.
  • Real-time decisioning at under 200ms — Adobe Experience Platform is batch-segment and trigger orchestration. Appice computes the decision against current state in the moment.
  • Purpose-built for regulated industries — and a fraction of the total cost of ownership. Adobe enterprise deployments take 18+ months and seven-figure budgets; Appice deploys in 6-8 weeks.

The Real Difference

A different category of system.

Campaign engagement platforms run journeys on segments. Appice runs decisions on signals — a category difference, not a feature one.

Campaign Engagement Platforms

Built around campaigns and journeys.

  • Schedule campaigns across push, email, SMS, in-app
  • Build segments and run journeys on those segments
  • You define the journeys; the platform executes them
  • Optimised for consumer digital and e-commerce use cases
Appice

A real-time decisioning system.

  • Detects signals the moment they happen — under 20ms
  • Decides the next best action using rules, AI and propensity
  • Acts immediately — no campaign scheduled in advance
  • Learns from every outcome to sharpen the next decision
  • Built for Banking, Telco, Healthcare — compliant by design
Positioning

Where Adobe sits, where Appice differs.

Where Adobe sits

Adobe Journey Optimizer is the orchestration layer in Adobe's customer experience stack, running on Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) as the data foundation. Public documentation positions the combined stack as a profile-and-segment-driven engagement system, with AI services delivered via Adobe Sensei.

Deployment models

Adobe's documentation describes Journey Optimizer and Experience Platform as Adobe-managed cloud services running on Microsoft Azure. According to the vendor's stated architecture, deployment is managed by Adobe across regions.

For organisations whose regulator requires — or may in future require — an in-country control plane or on-premise audit: this deployment model is part of the vendor's documented architecture and applies uniformly across the platform's customer base.

Appice's documented architecture supports on-premise, private cloud, hybrid, and Appice SaaS — the same software across all four configurations. The deployment model is selected by the customer based on the regulatory environment.

Data residency

Adobe's published residency model is regional Azure data centre placement, with customer data handled through documented hashing and tokenisation patterns inside the AEP profile model.

This addresses where some forms of data reside. What it does not address is where the decisioning infrastructure runs — the rules engine, the model layer, the orchestrator that decides for the customer. Where Adobe's decisioning infrastructure executes for a given jurisdiction is publicly verifiable in their documentation.

Appice's documented architecture runs the full decisioning stack — runtime, model layer, orchestration — inside the same compliance boundary as the data. Including air-gapped configurations where the jurisdiction requires.

Other points to verify with Adobe

  • Commercial model. Public sources describe a layered model — AEP licensing plus Journey Optimizer per-event pricing plus Sensei usage. The combined cost curve at signal-frequency decisioning is worth modelling against alternatives.
  • Decisioning depth. Journeys are documented as profile-and-segment-driven via AEP. How the platform makes decisions on real-time signals outside the profile model is worth verifying directly.
  • Time to live. Typical enterprise rollout length for AEP plus Journey Optimizer is worth requesting in writing during procurement.
  • Integration scope. Verify the depth of documented integrations with the core banking systems your organisation operates (Finacle, T24, Flexcube, Temenos).

What Appice is built for

Appice is the action layer for regulated industries. Real-time decisioning across every channel a bank, insurer, telco, or government operates — on the customer's choice of deployment, with the decisioning infrastructure inside the regulator's audit boundary.

What Only Appice Does

Five things only Appice does.

Sub-200ms decisioning

Detect, decide, act before the customer leaves the screen. Real-time, not pre-built journeys waiting on an event.

Regulatory compliance by design

RBI, SAMA, MAS, PDPA, DPDP — native, not checkboxes. Every decision logged, explainable, export-ready.

On-premise for data sovereignty

On-prem or private cloud — the decisioning control plane inside your infrastructure, not a US data centre.

Signal ingestion, not just events

Connects to core banking, BSS/OSS, EHR, CRM — structured transactional signals, not just SDK events.

Outcomes fed back into decisions

Every outcome feeds back in real time. Propensity sharpens, rules adjust — no separate analyse-and-tune cycle.

Allyvate AI

Agentic AI as the system, not a feature.

Four specialised agents — Content, Campaign, Reasoning, Decisioning — run the decisions in <200ms.
